SCOTT, La. (KLFY) – Last week’s fatal shooting of a 39-year-old man in a mobile home park has been deemed a homicide by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting happened shortly before 3:30 a.m. on July 11, 2016, in the 400 block of D. Arceneaux Road.

The sheriff’s office received a call of an aggravated battery in progress involving a shooting.

Responding deputies found the body of Helron Moore, 39, from Branch, La.

John Mowell, a sheriff’s office spokesperson, said Moore was shot in the head by the homeowner.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigative Division have ruled the case a homicide and have turned the case over to the District Attorney’s Office.

Mowell said no arrests have been made.
