ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY)– Three are behind bars today after St. Landry Parish, S.W.A.T. team executed a search warrant recovered narcotics from an apartment.
According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Enforcement Team (N.E.T) along with the Highway Interdiction Team (H.I.T), arrested three suspects for multiple drug charges and drug trafficking on Thursday, April 28th, 2016.
Sheriff Guidroz stated his Narcotics Enforcement Team had been conducting numerous hours of surveillance and undercover drug buys of large amounts of Methamphetamine and “Crack” Cocaine from Robert Elijah Rideau Jr. for several months. With information from the extensive surveillance hours and undercover drug buys, detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for Rideau’s residence at 176 Rainbow drive apartment D, Opelousas, La.
Utilizing the St. Landry Parish S.W.A.T Team, a search warrant was executed during the late afternoon hours of April 28th. During the search warrant, Robert E. Rideau Jr. was arrested. Narcotics Agents located and seized approximately five ounces of crystal methamphetamine, half an ounce of marijuana, half an ounce of “crack” cocaine, various prescription pills, over 10 cell phones, U.S. currency derived from the drug sales and a 2005 Nissan Altima used to traffic and distribute illegal narcotics.
Sheriff Guidroz stated the Narcotics Enforcement Team, acting on information provided by concerned citizens and local business owners of St. Landry Parish, conducted a separate drug investigation in the Grand Coteau area. During this investigation, agents observed hand to hand transactions between several subjects. Narcotics agents made contact with the suspects and arrested Shawn Robin and Mariah Miller.
Robin and Miller were arrested for possession and distribution of approximately 2 ounces of crystal methamphetamine and a significant amount of U.S. currency believed to be money derived from drug sales.
Agents also seized a Honda CBR motorcycle during this investigation.
Sheriff Guidroz said, “Multiple arrest warrants have been obtained through this lengthy investigation. The investigation consists of approximately 20 other suspects, which arrest warrants will be served at a later date.”
