Parents of students who attend seven Lafayette Parish schools can apply for a spot at another district school.

A transfer request option is open to students at schools that received a “D” or “F” grade from the state last year.

The transfer option is required by federal and state law.

According to the district, during the application process parents must indicate which schools they would accept their students attending.

However, transfers are limited to available space.

Parents who apply for a transfer will be notified as to whether their request is accepted as soon as school staffing decisions are made for the 2016-2017 school year.

Bus transportation will be provided for students who are transferred through this process.

Students at schools that are eligible for the transfer request option are:

Alice Boucher Elementary

Carencro Heights Elementary

Carencro High

Duson Elementary

J.W. Faulk Elementary

Lafayette Middle

Northside High

The online application will be available from April 1-30.

A second application period will run from July 30-August 27.
