A single vehicle crash on LA Hwy 93 near Grain Elevator Rd. in St. Martin Parish claimed the life of 23 year old Dominick S. Roy of Breaux Bridge.
According to State Police, the crash happened shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday at the site of the historic LaPataterie Arts and Culture building.
Police say Roy was traveling westbound on LA Hwy.93 and entered into a curve, ran off of the roadway to the left and then struck an unoccupied structure, the historic LaPataterie.
Police say on impact his Chevy Suburban and the structure became engulfed in flames.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Other details are pending such as lab test and toxicology results.
Police say they do not know if he was wearing a seatbelt.
