- The Lafayette city parish council approved rededicating 10 million dollars of library surplus funds. 8 million would to repair roads, bridges and drainage and 2 million would go to parks and recreation if voters approve in October.
A bill that would allow low-speed electric scooters on state roadways was introduced in this year’s legislative session. City and parish governments would also have authorization to prohibit the scooters if they feel the scooters affect public safety.
DCFS is reporting the house’s current budget plan falls short of what they need to keep food stamps going in the state. Later today, the state’s income forecasting panel could recognize the money needed to keep the program afloat.
State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says his office is getting some out of state assistance into the investigation of the fires that broke at three historically black churches in the area.
- Two people suffered non life-threatening injuries following a shooting yesterday near a gas station on Moss street. Lafayette police are investigating the incident.
- Crowley police believe there may be three different crime scenes involving a teenager that was shot early Tuesday morning. The teen was found near a home where a truck was crashed. But police believe the shooting happened at another location.
