People gathered to pray and release balloons, all in memory of Courtland hall, the man fatally shot in New Iberia on Thursday.

The suspect, Akeam Daniels is still on the run after he allegedly shot Hall and later abducted his own daughter, Amari Daniels.

The 2-month-old baby is now safe and authorities have canceled the Amber Alert for her.

New Iberia District 2 councilman, Marlon Lewis says he just wants the violence to come to an end.

“To curve it, it would take a unified commitment from leaders from all areas,” Lewis explains.

He says to do this, the New Iberia community needs to come together

“Get to a place where we can become unified as a body as a community that actually cares again about some of the things that we’re dealing with on a day to day basis,” Lewis says.

Lewis also has a message for the New Iberia youth: “Become somebody, develop an identity. Other than street hoodlum, thug, shooter, gang banger, drug dealer. There’s other identities.”

Officials say Daniels should be considered armed and dangerous.

If you see him or have any information on his whereabouts, contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office or Iberia Crimestoppers at 364-TIPS.
