LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Lafayette has 155,000 registered voters and as the race for the presidency comes to an end, there are some rules to keep in mind when you cast your ballot.

“You can not wear any campaign paraphernalia,” said Lafayette registrar of voters Charlene Menard, “It has to be within the 600 feet radius from the polls. You need to remember that you have three minutes in the poll, please be prepared. They need a picture ID which their picture and a signature in order to be eligible to vote tomorrow.”

16,000 Lafayette residents voted early, which means that as many as 139,000 voters could show up on Election Day.

Menard encourages residents to download the Geaux Vote app to help answer their questions.

“On your phone you can get the Geaux vote app,” said Menard, “You can search by voter. Type in your name, it’s going to show you where you go. That way if you can not get in touch with us tomorrow, this is where you need to get your information.”

Some residents believe this is the most controversial election in history; making it even more important to get out and vote.

“This election was actually one of our most controversial elections,” said resident Shannon Ozene, “There’s a lot of mud slinging and I’m happy that it’ll be over in a couple of days.”

“You have two candidates that are running that, in my opinion, have two completely different views of America,” said resident Greg Davis, “And that’s why it’s very important that you go out and vote because one of those ways is the direction we’re going to head in depending on who gets elected.”

The polls will open at 6 a.m. and all those who want to cast their vote need to be in line by 8 p.m.
