(The Daily Advertiser)- Festival International de Louisiane is upon us, and Clandestine Collective is bringing something special to the selection of post-Festival parties.

Two words:

Silent.

Disco.

A silent disco is a dance party wherein guests are issued a set of wireless headphones connected to a DJ — or in this case a selection of DJs — and then dance their hearts out while everyone not wearing headphones can chat or hang out.

The idea gained popularity in the 1990s at outdoor music festivals in Europe as a way to avoid noise curfew complaints or disturbing local wildlife with noise pollution.

The Silent Disco will start at 10 p.m. Friday in the Lounge at Tsunami Sushi, in downtown Lafayette.
