LAFAYETTE, La.- The Stroke Center at Lafayette General Medical Center is offering free stroke screenings on December 1 from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

On average, someone suffers a stroke every 40 seconds and is a leading cause of serious, long-term disability in the United States.

In past events, LGMC said it had caught serious warning signs and prevented a stroke from happening in the near future.
