Schedule of town hall meetings on Lafayette charter amendments

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- Individual town hall meetings will be held in different parish districts next week to address the proposed amendment to Lafayette’s charter. An ordinance to consider changes to the charter will be on the council meeting agenda for final adoption on Aug. 7.

AOC Community Media has announced that they will record each LCG Town Hall Meeting during the week of July 16-20.


Announcements of the airing schedule will be posted on the social media sites once the programming schedule is final.

Bruce Conque, who represents District 6 on the Lafayette City-Parish Council, has announced that he will join Liz Herbert, District 8 representative, in co-hosting a town hall on Monday, July 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the South Regional Library. In a joint statement, Conque and Hebert noted that their districts are adjacent and that a joint meeting was appropriate in addressing and hearing from their respective constituency.

Radio program, “The Community Hour” will be dedicated to this issue District 4 Councilman Kenneth Boudreaux said. The show airs on 104.7 FM at 11:00 a.m.

Boudreaux will host town hall meeting at the Clifton Chenier Center auditorium on Tuesday July 17, 2018, at 5:30 p.m.

District 7 Council Member Nanette Cook will host town hall on July 18, 2018. at 5:30 p.m. at the Comeaux Recreation Center. Citizens are encouraged to attend to view maps and better understand the proposed Charter amendments. 

District 2 Councilman Jay Castille will hold a town on meeting on the proposed charter amendments at Carencro Community Center on Thursday July 19, 2018 beginning at 6 p.m.

District 3 Council member Pat Lewis will hold a town hall meeting at 5:30 p.m. on July 19, inside the Lafayette City-Parish Council Auditorium.

Council Chairman and District 1 Representative Kevin Naquin has called a Town Hall meeting to discuss the Proposed Charter Amendments on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 6 p.m. at the Scott Event Center.
