EVANGELINE PARISH, La. (KLFY) One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening in Evangeline Parish.

Deonte Walker, 21, of Eunice was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his wounds.

Louisiana State Police Trooper Thomas Gossen said Walker’s 2009 Hyundai Sonata was traveling north on La. 13 when for unknown reasons, it crossed the center line and struck the 18-wheeler head-on near Heritage Road.

Walker and his front-seat passenger were not buckled up. The passenger was treated for moderate injuries. The driver of the 18-wheeler was restrained and was uninjured. He also passed a breath test and displayed no signs of impairment.

Toxicology tests on Walker are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
