CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) – A teenager is dead and another is being treated for life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Crowley early this morning.

Police Chief Jimmy Broussard said officers received a report of a man covered in blood. Responding officers found two young men in a vehicle covered in “a large amount of blood.”

“When officers arrived they did actually find two victims inside of the vehicle both had received multiple shots to the head,” said Chief Broussard.

The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

The passenger, Jarius Wilson, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy will be performed on Wilson for an official cause of death.

Very few other details are available at this time. Broussard said detectives are currently seeking a person of interest in the case.

“No one notified us of shots being fired, or any disturbance or disagreement. Some are saying it could have been a domestic disturbance others are saying a possible narcotics activity, but we are investigating all leads to try to find a resolution for these families.”

Abbie Oliver lives a few blocks from where the bodies were discovered. She said the area is typically quiet.

“Not this street here we don’t have no killing, but in the surrounding area of this neighborhood we been having some.”

Oliver said she is not happy that violence is being brought to her neighborhood.

“It’s just ridiculous, it’s sad because it’s young kids that don’t get a chance to live and the parents.”

This is the second homicide in Crowley since Chief Broussard took over, a shooting that he said is one too many.

“We were quite busy last year. It has kind of slowed down but still two murders are two too many.”
