A 12-year-old boy is home safe after he was found walking along Highway 93 in Sunset with no recollection of how he’d gotten there.

Police Chief Luis Padilla says a good Samaritan called the police station informing them of the boy.

Lieutenant Aquieta Fredricks responded to the call, she says he couldn’t give her much information, but told her his name was Trishton Mundy.

“I asked him if he was ok and he said ‘no but I’m coming from Lafayette.’ I said, ‘how did you get to sunset?’ He said he wasn’t sure,” says Fredricks.

Padilla and Fredricks then took to social media to track down his family members using what little information Trishton had given them.

His family was able to pick him up from the police station and explained that the boy was living in Sunset when he left his grandmother’s house and was found along Highway 93. Police believe he was disoriented when he said he had come from Lafayette.
