LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – A 13-year-old boy is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle on West Willow Street earlier this afternoon.

The crash happened this afternoon around 2:40 near the intersection of Willow Street and Aster Drive.

Lafayette Police Corporal Paul Mouton says the teenager is hospitalized in critical condition.

Two of the boy’s neighbors witnessed the incident.

Earlier, Lafayette Police closed Willow Street between Hebert Road and University Avenue as officers investigated the crash.

The roadway has since been reopened.
