Maurepas, La. (KLFY) A single vehicle crash on LA 22 east of LA 1039 in Livingston Parish has claimed the life of 17 year old Megan Threeton of Springfield, La.

Police say it happened shortly after 5:00 p.m. Friday.

An initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Threeton was traveling westbound on LA 22 when for unknown reasons, she failed to negotiate a right hand curve and ran off the left side of the roadway.

Police say her vehicle came to a stop after striking a tree.

She was properly restrained at the time of the crash but sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries, according to State Police.

Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash but a toxicology sample will be taken from Threeton for analysis.
