Two people have been arrested in connection to a vehicle reported stolen in Breaux Bridge on October 4, 2018.
On Tuesday morning, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the home of Cedrick Landry, 39, and Jessica Batiste, 37, in the 3400 block of Grandpoint Highway.
An investigation determined that the stolen vehicle was brought to a local scrap yard on December 1, 2018 and was salvaged for parts.
Major Ginny Higgins says that a 2018 UTV that was reported stolen out of Avoyellles Parish on January 3, 2019 was also recovered.
Investigators also determined the couple was operating a used car lot on their property without a license.
Landry and Batiste were both booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the below charges:
Cedrick Landry:
- 2 counts Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, over $5,000.00 (Felony)
- 1 count Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies (Felony)
- 1 count Possession of Schedule I C.D.S. (Marijuana) (Misdemeanor)
Jessica Batiste:
- 1 count Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)
No bond has been set at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
