UPDATE: According to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, Desmond Richard turned himself in on 6/2/2016, and he was booking for the arrest warrant that was issued for Simple Burglary of Inhabited Dwelling and Resisting an Officer.
LAWTELL, La. (KLFY) – Authorities have arrested one man and are looking for two other men in connection with a home invasion in rural St. Landry Parish.
The incident happened around 3:25 p.m. Wednesday on Olivier Road near Lawtell.
Major Eddie Thibodeaux said a 10-year-old and a 19-year-old were inside when the suspects attempted to burglarize the home.
A responding deputy noticed two suspects running from the home which had a broken window, according to Thibodeaux.

One of the suspects, Torian Lazard, 22, of Opelousas, was quickly arrested but the other suspect Elijah Richard, 20, of Opelousas, was able to escape deputies.
Investigators learned another suspect, Desmond Richard, 25, of Opelousas, was the alleged getaway driver.
Larazard was charged with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and resisting arrest.
Arrest warrants have been issued for Desmond Richard and Elijah Richard.
Thibodeaux said the two suspects are not related.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz issued a warning to parents in a news release:
“Since our kids are on summer break from school, parents need to sit their kids down and make a plan of emergency for cases like these. Daytime home burglaries are on the rise throughout Acadiana and their safety should be the main concern. Any suspicious activity, persons, or vehicles should be reported immediately to your local law enforcement agency.”
