OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY)– Deputies arrest a 22-year-old after they say he entered a home and stole a safe.
Authorities with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office tell KLFY that Logan Brown, 22, of Opelousas, was arrested after entering a home on Marks Road Opelousas and stole a safe.
According to a news release, the complainant reported that she was in her back bedroom when she came out to see to see Brown leaving her house with her brothers safe in hand.
Brown allegedly jumped off the porch and ran towards a neighbor’s home.
Deputies say they were granted permission to search the neighbor’s property were they located the safe in a back shed.
A witness inside the residence stated that Brown had told him that he was going to take the safe out of the neighbor’s house due to the owner owing him the contents. The witness stated to police that Brown was going to return the safe after removing the contents according to a news release.
A spokesperson with the St. Landry Sheriff’s office says Brown was still at the scene and denied all accounts of the burglary.
Police say that due to the evidence collected at the scene Brown was arrested and charged with simple burglary. His bond was set at $7,500.
