The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office says three adults and an 8-month-old baby died after an SUV ran off the road, hit a guard rail and overturned in New Iberia Saturday evening.

Maj. Ryan Turner said that a 7-year-old boy was the only survivor of the wreck, and is listed in serious condition at Women’s and Children’s hospital in Lafayette.

Tuner said the 49-year-old driver was thrown from the vehicle when it flipped on South Lewis Street at its interesection with Connie Rue.

He says two other adults, a man and a woman, and the baby died at local hospitals.

Tuner did not know the victims relationships to one another or their home towns, neither the baby’s gender.

The victims’ names have not been released, and the cause of the crash in under investigation.
