UPDATE: Leona Allen and Deona Jones have been identiifed as suspects in an alleged kidnapping that happened Friday night in Morgan City.
According to police, following their arrest both Allen and Jones admitted to taking the child without the mother’s permission or knowledge. Both have been charged with simple kidnapping and have been booked into the Morgan City jail. The investigation is still ongoing at this time and further arrest may occur, police said.MORGAN CITY, La. (KLFY) A 7 year old child abducted in Morgan City Friday night has been found safe, according to police.
The Morgan City Police Department said around 9:00 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the area of Roderick St. in regards to a kidnapping after a 7-year-old juvenile was removed from the residence without the parent’s knowledge.
Through investigative means and with the assistance of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, police say, the child was located safe in Houma, La. Saturday morning just before 5 a.m.
Two people have been arrested in what police are calling a family abduction after the suspects were identified as extended family members of the victim.
They were booked into the Terrebonne Parish Detention Center and are currently awaiting transport to the Morgan City Jail.
The investigation is still ongoing at this time and further details are pending, police said.
