Verna Suard says she enjoys being 92 years young.
“My sister is still living and she’s 97. I’m 92. I don’t know if it’s our genes or our lifestyle,” she says.
Suard says she lived in Port Arthur for two years before heading back to her hometown of Loreauville where she met her husband.
“I got married very young. I’m not sorry I did. Stayed 61 years. So that was good,” she says.
Suard says she was born into a farming family; her father was a farmer.
“I swore I would never marry a farmer and never leave Loreauville. I did marry a farmer and i lived in Loreauville. It goes to show you,” Suard says.
Suard says she was a farmer’s wife — and proud of it through and through.
“I had to do a lot of cooking. this was like in the 40’s. We had to feed the men and that was my job you know. My husband had promised me when he retired i would not have to cook .He kept his word. We ate out alot and that was fun,” she recalls.
Suard says at 92 years old she’s happy.
“People often say would you like to be another age. I’m satisfied at 92. Why would i want to go back and my life is good, “she says.
Suard is the proud mother of three children and lots of grand and great grand children.
