Even at the age of 92 Lorena Brinegar lives life as if she’s on a journey… with courage, class and style..
Brinegar says, “I don’t feel that i’m that age.”
She’s as sharp as tack and takes care of herself at home and away from home. The st. Landry Council on aging is where Lorena gets a chance to spend time with family and friends.
Lorena says her first husband passed away more than 40 years ago.
she explains that they lived as farmers, “we farmed. we had cotton and potatoes.”
Eventually Lorena remarried, she says she married a man who loved to travel and it turned out she did too.
Her adventures took her to Hawaii and as a far as Europe. Lorena describes the life as one huge journey after another, “we went around in a camper a lot going from state to state. really, it’s like i said i enjoyed life.”
She says her husband was supportive of her — no matter what she wanted to do, “he always would say you be the judge of it. if you feel you can, then do it.”
That’s the advice she gives as the key to living life to its fullest, “I wouldn’t let nobody tell me what i can or what i can’t do. that’s the wrong thing to do. you do what you want to do.”
