The Vermilion Municipal and Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force busted an Abbeville man for drugs. made the following arrest for narcotics related offenses within the parish.

Authorities say after a lengthy investigation into the dealing of suspected marijuana from a residence inside the city limits of Abbeville, agents were able to secure enough evidence to obtain a search warrant. Upon the execution of the search warrant on the residence, located at 1301 East St. Victor street in Abbeville, agents encountered multiple subjects inside of the residence. A search of the residence resulted in agents finding two firearms with large extended magazines, ammunition, and evidence of a large scale distribution operation.
Agents arrested Rodney Dwayne Harris Jr., 25, and charged him with several violations. They are as follows:
- Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, (Marijuana)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, (2 counts)
- Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Drug Free Zone, (Church)
- Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Drug Free Zone, (School)
- Possession of a Stolen Firearm
- Attempted Obliteration of a serial number on a Firearm
- Possession of a Controlled Dangerous substance in the Presence of a Juvenile (2 counts)
