Officials with the City of Abbeville say there are many opportunities for business expansion and economic development.

Anne Falgout, the Executive Director of Vermilion Economic Development Alliance, said she hears about a new business coming to town everyday and there’s excitement in that.

News 10 asked, “Is it safe to say businesses are coming, new businesses, I guess, if you will, coming into Abbeville?”

“I don’t want to speculate about who’s going to be doing what when, but there are a lot of discussions on the table about like we said, different opportunities that are available,” Falgout added. “We’re showcasing businesses and pieces of land that are right for investment.”

Falgout explained that the former Abbeville golf course will open back up again. As well as a new daycare that’s coming to the north side of Abbeville.

“There’s so many opportunities around the airport and in places like Intracoastal City and our industrial areas, and so we see a lot of existing businesses growing and reshaping what they look like to meet the market demands, and we see people who are taking notice and coming into the market and opening new businesses,” said Falgout.

Abbeville City Councilman for District C, Brady Broussard, said, “At this day and time, we are actively working on a $475,000 grant for improvements in the downtown (area). That will bring 21 handicap accessibility points to downtown. It will provide beautification. It will provide things for current businesses to attract more customers.”
