UPDATE, 10:35 a.m.: The victim has been identified as James Jerome Darby, 29, of Abbeville. Abbeville Police Public Information Officer Lt. Jonathan Touchet said in a press release that Darby was found inside of a vehicle shortly after 10:25 p.m. on Sunday, May 3. Darby was pronounced dead at the scene by the Vermilion Parish Coroner.

ORIGINAL POST: Abbeville police are investigating a homicide.

Sources tell KLFY News, the homicide happen in the 400 block of Dutel Street late Sunday night. Sources say the victim was shot in the head.
