The countdown begins for last minute shoppers.  On Monday, shoppers flocked to the Acadiana Mall to purchase last minute Christmas gifts.

For some people last minute shopping is just who they are.

“It puts me in the Christmas spirit; and it’s just me.  I just always do everything at the last minute,” says mall shopper.

For others, last minute is actually part of the plan. Brian Forestier says he traveled in from out state to spend Christmas with his family. “It’s a lot less to load up in the vehicle and luggage.  We figure we’ll do our Christmas shopping once we’re back home,” says Forestier.

Forestier is shopping with his three daughters. They arrived at the mall early in order to avoid the last minute holiday rush. “When we don’t come here, it’s Amazon all the way.”

Plus, some people have come to the conclusion that waiting to shop last minute adds an element of surprise to Christmas morning gifting.

“The kids are at home waiting to see if we’re bringing the packages and we plan on bringing them nothing; but we got it.  We’re going to hide it in the back,” adds shopper.

“Everything is last minute for me.  I like it that way?” explains shopper.
