OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) – Sunday’s Acadiana Strong benefit concert held at Evangeline Downs raised over $100,000 for flood victims, according to a concert organizer.
Music promoter and concert organizer Chris Foreman said the concert raised almost $103,000 through ticket sales, sponsorship sales, and the auction of donated items, such as autographed guitars.
The number of funds raised could continue to grow, according to Foreman, as the organization’s donation link is still available online.
All proceeds and donations will benefit the Acadiana Disaster Response Fund at Community Foundation of Acadiana.
Foreman said the Community Foundation of Acadiana will work closely with federal, state and local agencies as well as nonprofit organizations and churches to benefit those affected in Acadiana.
The concert included musical performances from Wayne Toupes, Kix Brooks of Brooks and Dunn, Hunter Hayes and many more. The concert sold out within one day.
