A Grand Coteau alderman has resigned from his position after questions of payments he received to attend meetings, even though he didn’t show up.
At a town hall meeting on May 8th, one resident spoke out about two of the five board members seats being empty.
They also spoke about those empty seats still receiving funding to attend the meetings even when they aren’t present.
As we came to find out, it went far beyond just that May meeting.
We attained the documents from three separate meetings from this year, all of which show alderman Brandon Miller was not present.
But that’s not all.
An anonymous source informed us that Miller also missed 10 of the 12 meetings last year.
That same source saying he was paid $300 dollars for each meeting.
If you combine the 10 meetings he missed from last year with the three he has missed this year, that comes out to a total of $3,900 dollars.
Also brought up at the town hall meeting was if Miller even lived in Grand Coteau anymore.
This coming after several reports that he now lived and worked in Texas.
KLFY spoke with Miller on the phone and he denied the claims and said he is currently a resident of Grand Coteau.
In that phone interview with Miller, he elected not to comment on the payments and checks sent to him.
