UPDATE 2: According to Broussard PD, all lanes are open for normal traffic.


UPDATE: Crews are still working to repair the ruptured gas line.

Traffic lanes are reduced and Broussard Police ask that motorists use caution in the area.

“We’re asking any of the motoring public that’s passing through this area to pay close attention to the officers’ signals as well as the cones that are set out for the detour around the working barricades,” said Lt. Gerard.

BROUSSARD, La. (KLFY) – Police and firefighters have closed a portion of South Morgan Avenue in Broussard due to a ruptured gas line.

“Construction company that was working out here hit a 3 inch gas line,” said Broussard Police Lt. Zac Gerard.

No evacuations have been issued. The rupture occurred on South Morgan Avenue at La Rue Malaga.

First responders are waiting for crews from the gas company to determine how long it will take to repair the line.

“We’re hoping to have it resolved by this afternoon,” said Lt. Gerard.

According to Police one Lane of S. Morgan is now reopened and to use caution traveling in the area as work crews will work through the night.
