Volunteers for the American Heart Association are celebrating American Heart Month with a special project.

The American Heart Association and LHC group launched what’s called ‘Acadiana’s little hat’s big hearts’. It began in November of last year as a way to bring awareness to congenital heart defects, the most common type of birth defect in the country.

Volunteers knitted and crocheted red hats for all babies born in Acadiana during the month of February which is also American Heart Month.
