2nd UPDATE: (9:27 P.M.) A man has been arrested after a two hour standoff with Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Deputies.

According to Sheriff K.P. Gibson, 34-year-old Jiveston Hebert of Branch, La. was arrested on multiple charges including attempted first degree murder of a peace officer.

Around 4 p.m. while investigating a complaint, deputies discovered an individual they believed had outstanding arrest warrants.

They attempted to confirm his identity when he fled on foot, Gibson said.

Deputies followed him to a residence where he hid in attic.

From the attic, Gibson said, the suspect began firing shots at deputies.

After two hours working with family members, Gibson said, Hebert surrendered.

He was transported to the Acadia Parish Jail and booked on the following charges:

5 counts FTA bench warrants, felony 
6 counts attempted 1st degree murder of peace officer
1 count resisting by giving false identity, 1 count resisting by flight, 1 count resisting by giving false identify and 1 count convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

There were no injuries.

ACADIA PARISH, La. (KLFY)- UPDATE: The suspect was peacefully taken into custody after a standoff that began at about 4 p.m., Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson said.

ORIGINAL STORY: A suspect wanted on active warrants has barricaded himself inside a home off of Highway 35 near Branch.

Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson said the suspect is believed to be armed with a gun and is refusing commands to exit the residence.
