A Georgia man is charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting in Morgan City.

Courtland Jamarr Francois, 27, of Atlanta, Georgia, was arrested Wednesday on charges of attempted first-degree murder. ,

Authorities say Morgan City Police responded to a call of several shots being fired in the area of Orange Street on Monday morning. When officers arrived in the area, they found one male victim who suffered a gunshot wound to the lower leg.

The Morgan City Police Department Detectives along with the assistance of St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives located and arrested Francois in connection with the shooting. Maitland Elementary and Immanuel Christian schools were temporarily placed on lockdown Monday morning while authorities investigated the shooting.
