UPDATE:

 The courthouse will be closed for the remainder of the day.

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating. The department’s spokesperson John Mowell said a threat was made against courthouse personnel.

The threat targeted the district attorney’s office and judicial staff, he said.

Mowell said someone in the courthouse received a text about an explosive inside the building.

LPSO deputy Lilly Castille said no injuries have been reported.

The 15th JDC issued this statement at 4 p.m.: The Lafayette Parish Courthouse will reopen for business as usual on Thursday, April 26.  Persons scheduled for court on 4/26/18 should appear as summoned.
