LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- Since 1993, Bailey’s Seafood in Lafayette has been serving the the local community a complimentary Thanksgiving feast.
A lot of work goes into the meal, and it requires plenty of help to make it all happen.
Jeremy Whitman has been in Bailey’s kitchen for 15 years. Owner Ema Haq said he’s lucky to have such a reliable employee.
The task of preparing more than 800 meals never gets easier, said Whitman. But he’s not working alone. Numerous volunteers are what make the luncheon a success, he said.
Though Thanksgiving week means work for Whitman and the Bailey’s crew, it’s a dining room full of smiling faces that makes it all worth it.
The crew hopes to feed 1,000 patrons next year.
