Authorities are trying to capture a black bear that was spotted roaming around New Iberia Saturday evening.
The New Iberia Police Department said that a black bear was spotted in a tree in the College Park Subdivision near Southwood Drive off East Admiral Doyle Drive.
Crews from Wildlife and Fisheries are being called to the scene, Chief Todd D’Albor said.
He said the bear is possibly a wild bear and not from the Broussard zoo.
D’Albor warns that if anyone comes into contact with the bear, they should not approach, instead call 911.
Homeowners are urged to keep the pets indoors during this time, D’Albor said.
