Her Christmas cakes were seen as an important reminder of community for Scott Police Chief Chad Leger because it was time set aside each year, during the holidays,  to allow the police department’s front office to become a gathering place where he could visit with members of the community, eat cake and talk about anything, Leger said.

Today, friends and family are remembering the joyful, happy personality of a woman who vowed to support the men in blue.

Mrs. Ginny “Hollywood” Thomas, died Friday following a brief illness, according to her family.

She was 60 years old.

For the past 15 years, Thomas would stop by the department with a beautiful cake and we would chat about the community or whatever she wanted to talk about at the time.” Leger said.

“It  was always a sweet surprsie.”

Leger said their friendly relationship started after members of the Scott Police Department assisted  the former limousine business owner during a wedding escort.

“We were simply doing our jobs, but she was so grateful for our help that every year during the holidays she gifted us with one of her delicious Christmas cakes.”

As a thank you gift, Leger said his officers will give a final escort to “Miss Hollywood” (as he affectionately called her) as her body is transported to its final resting place.

“She was there for us, and now we will be there for her.” Leger said.

Daughter Pam Thomas said Ms. Thomas had not been feeling well over the past few months and was recently admitted to the hospital where she died.

Funeral arrangements are still pending, according to the family.
