ST. LANDRY PARISH, La (KLFY) – The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is celebrating ten years with Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. Ten years in which he says the department has made great strides to achieve numerous goals.

“We’ve moved into a new complex, it’s going to be 3 years in February that we’ve been here, and we’re fixing to add on; we’re going to bring our civil department here as well,” said Sheriff Guidroz.

Those are just some of the accomplishments that Sheriff Guidroz says he’s proud to have reached while in office. He has more than 40 years in law enforcement, however, last Sunday marked ten years for him as sheriff in St. Landry Parish.

“We’ve accomplished a lot in the last ten years and we still have a lot of work to do,” said Sheriff Guidroz.

Sheriff Guidroz credits his staff for their outstanding work, despite things starting off a little rocky.

“The first two years was rough, I mean we had a lot of work to do; and of course not saying anything disparaging against the previous administration, but there were things I wanted to do differently,” said Sheriff Guidroz.

Sheriff Guidroz says his department still has its eyes on goals that will better serve the public, but most notably he prides the department on how far they’ve come with law enforcement training.

“We’ve come a long way in training,” said Sheriff Guidroz. “Our training department has really stepped up to the plate and have accomplished a lot.”

Sheriff Guidroz says not to mention the outstanding number of cases his deputies have solved.

“We just solved a major case, the double homicide on Cosay Rd., we’ve made three arrest in that recently,” said Sheriff Guidroz.

Overall, Sheriff Guidroz says all divisions are doing their part and says he couldn’t be prouder.

Sheriff Guidroz says the department still has a long way to go and will continue to work on moving the parish in the right direction.
