ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY) – A boil advisory has been issued for Grand Prairie, Port Barre and Waterworks District 3.
Officials say the advisory is in place for Port Barre and Waterworks District 3 because a contractor broke an 8-inch water pipe.
It may be several days before the boil advisory is lifted.
The advisory in Grand Prarie affects 200 homes in the St. Landry Parish community. It went into effect around 3 p.m. Thursday.
Grand Prairie Water System operator Brandon Dardeau said the system will be doing repairs and the boil advisory will be in effect until at least Tuesday, July 26.
He said it will take several days to get test results back and flush the system before the advisory can be lifted.
The boil advisory affects residents east of Grand Prairie Elementary School. That includes LA 363, LA 103, LA 748, Point Verte Rd. and all intersecting streets.
