The Boy Scout Program that a 16-year-old was taking part in when he died suddenly Friday afternoon, has released a statement on the boy’s death.
It’s a story you saw first on News Ten.
The unidentified boy was from out of state.
He was taking part in a five day swamp base high adventure program with the Boy Scout’s Evangeline Area Council, which serves eight Acadiana parishes.
The boy fainted and became unresponsive when they were two miles from their destination in the Atchafalaya Basin.
Officials say he had an unspecified medical condition before he went on the canoe trip.
They do not know what exactly caused the death.
The B-S-A Swamp Base statement reads in part: “This is an extremely difficult time for all of those impacted by the tragedy. Please join us in praying for the family, troop, swamp base staff and all first responders that are involved.”
