A Breaux Bridge man has died and two of his family members were injured after a boating accident in the Intracoastal Waterway, according to relatives.
Officials with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries told KPLC their boat collided head-on with a commercial vessel near the Rockefeller State Wildlife Refuge and Game Preserve.
The two boats were reportedly in a curve in a canal. Family members of those involved say three men were out on a fishing trip in the Intracoastal Waterway when their recreational boat collided with a commercial vessel.
Jack Michael Nicholas airlifted to a Lake Charles hospital where he later died, according his family.
KPLC reported the Coast Guard, Wildlife and Fisheries and the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident.
