The heroes, villains and characters people know and love jump off the pages of books and movie screens and come to life at the Louisiana Comic Con.

Comic Con has grown tremendously throughout the U.S and now it’s made it way to Louisiana.

Saturday kicked off the very first Comic Con to be held here in Lafayette.

ABC Convention Owner, Greg Hanks says Comic Con is a fun event for all ages.

“It’s a place for parents to remember the things that they loved when they were kids and share it with their children. It’s a place for other kids to meet kids their age and not maybe feel like such an outcast, there is someone else that likes this stuff too.”” Said Hanks.

The convention offers panels where guests can chat with creators and stars from your favorite games, shows and movies.

Jordan Savoy attends cons around the southeast.

He says the main attraction is always the costumes.

“Obviously the dressing up part. I love it being part of the character and coming to see everybody else in character as well and acting out.”” Said Savoy.

For the last 6 months Kyle and Angela Plaisance have been preparing their costumes for the con.

They came as characters from the popular game “Halo”.

He says it’s a great way to express yourself.

“I work a desk job and on my days off this is what I do to just be creative and to just keep my mind going basically. It’s just fun.”” Said Plaisance.

The Plaisance’s say Comic Con is a great way to connect with others who share the same interests.

“It’s like a brotherhood. It’s just fun to be a child again,” Plaisance said.

The Louisiana Comic Con wraps up Sunday night.
