ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (KLFY) – A Cecilia man has been charged with second-degree murder after a woman was found stabbed to death late Wednesday evening.

John Howard Comeaux, 64, was arrested after detectives investigated the incident.

St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call about a stabbing that happened in the 1000 block of Will Angelle Road in Cecilia shortly before 9:00 p.m.

Deputies found the victim, Pernella Roberts, 63, of Cecilia, who suffered several stab wounds.

According to Major Ginny Higgins, Roberts was transported to a local hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Comeaux was booked into the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office on a second-degree murder charge and a previous violation of a protective order charge that was unrelated to this crime or the victim.

No bond has been set at this time.
