CHURCH POINT, La. (KLFY) – At 11 a.m. Sunday, the Church Point Fire Department and crews from surrouding areas responded to a major house fire in the 100 block of Michelle Street.

Officials say they received a page about flames coming from the home.

Fire personnel say once on scene they discoved that the fire was fully involved mainly on one side of the home with smoke throughout and fire coming out of roof vents and eves.

With assistance from the Mire, Branch, and Richard fire departments the fire was extinguised around 1 p.m.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined and the investigation is on-going.  There was no one inside the home.

Assistant Chief/ PIO Berl Adams issued the following statement: “We would like to thank all those who assisted; the fire departments and personnel mentioned above, Acadian Ambulance, Church Point Police, and yes those citizens who gave us insight and helped by keeping ways clear for us.  In the aftermath of all this keep this in mind. We as emergency responders had a pretty hard day you could say because a major fire is a lot of work, but we could go home at the end of the day tired, but the home owners end the day with a true feeling of loss. Please keep them in your thoughts.”
