Plans for Halloween activities and celebrations are changing because of a not-so-festive forecast.

Heavy rainfall is expected to hit on Halloween this Saturday night. So, the town of Church Point moved trick-or-treating to Friday night.

As upset parents call about the change, the advice they’re given is: Go Bears or Go Trick-or-Treating.

The Church Point Mayor and Clerk’s office began notifying families of the Halloween schedule change Wednesday morning.

As of now, there is a 100% chance of rain on Saturday.

Parents like Leeann Lebouef don’t agree with the change. Especially since the town’s high school football game is away

“As a parent who’s child played football I always wanted to be on the sidelines with him, and when I had a little one it’s tough. You don’t want to sacrifice one for the other,” Lebouef told KLFY’s Brheanna Berry.

Clerk of Court Ted Richard said the decision was made in the best interest of the children, “It’s going to be pouring down rain. I don’t care if it’s one hundred percent or fifty percent chance, it’s for the well-being of the community. The parents make that decision as to what they want to do and it’s about the kids, safety. Hopefully everyone understands that.”

But the changes, do not apply to everyone in Acadiana.

The city of Lafayette, for example, will keep trick-or-treating on Halloween night.

Nikki Landry lives in Lafayette and decorates her house every year.

She was hoping officials would move trick-or-treating to Friday, “I feel bad for the kids by not changing it. Nobody’s going to be able to trick or treat. They’ll all have their cute costumes on and they won’t be able to go trick or treating.”

The decision to change trick-or-treating times is up to each individual city or town.Click here to see a full list of trick-or-treat times in Acadiana
