According to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, several people were riding around Saturday night, when one passenger shot another passenger during an argument. 

Officials said the suspects then removed the deceased victim from the vehicle and fled the area. 

The suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled into a wooded area of land just west of Branch off of Highway 365. 

Deputies went door to door in an attempt to notify residents for their safety as well as to search properties for the suspects. 

Kervee Woodard, 32 of Church Point, was located Sunday morning, February 3, and taken into custody.

 A female suspect is still at large. The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office are continuing their search for Tyla Meche, 34, of Church Point. 

Meche is wanted in connection with this murder.
