(The Advertiser)- The Buchanan Street Parking Garage is one step closer to being redeveloped after it was closed due to safety concerns in October.
Development and Planning Director Danielle Breaux said requests for proposals to develop the property are going out.
She said the Lafayette Consolidated Government is seeking proposals that could include residential components, a hotel, office space or a combination of uses while preserving some parking.
The redevelopment site is comprised of four parcels — the garage and two surface parking lots, all owned by the city or the parish — totaling about 1.2 acres downtown.
