Tuesday night’s shooting has left several searching for answers. Now Louisiana State Police are taking action after arrests were made Friday night.
“A badge was tarnished tonight, two badges.”” Said Colonel Mike Edmondson.
LT. Derrick Stafford and Norris Greenhouse, Jr were arrested Friday night.
Both officers are being charged with one count of 2nd degree murder and attempted 2nd degree murder.
After firing 18 rounds at Chris Few and his autistic, six year old son Jeremy Mardis.
Few was shot twice but survived.
Mardis was fatally shot 5 times in his head and chest.
Louisiana State Police superintendent, Colonel Mike Edmondson says this is a troubling investigation.
“What is concerning to us is that what we knew that first night is not what we found to be true. We were told they were perusing a vehicle with a warrant, we never found a warrant.”” Said Colonel Edmonson.
Tuesday night, four officers, working as part time marshals, followed Few with Mardis sitting in the front seat.
There are still no answers as to why the officers pursued the vehicle before opening fire that wounded few and killed his son.
“Nothing is more important than that little man that died. Jeremy Mardis is 6 years old. He didn’t deserve to die like that. It was important that we work around the clock to get the facts that are involved.”” Said Edmonson.
In a press conference Friday night Colonel Edmondson said police are reviewing footage from one officers body camera.
“We took some of the body cam footage – let me tell you something – I’m not going to talk about it but I’ll tell you this, it is the most disturbing thing I’ve seen. I’ll leave it at that. ” Said Edmondson.
Colonel Edmondson says these arrests are just a piece of the puzzle as this is an ongoing investigation.
