LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – We’ve learned Frankie Hernandez, who used to live in Lafayette Parish, was among the 49 victims who lost their lives in Orlando. In a Facebook post-Monday, Julissa Leal Escalante wrote that “they took my big brother away from me, they took him away from us.”

Escalante says her brother Frankie Hernandez formerly of Carencro has been identified to be among the Orlando mass shooting victims. Residents in Carencro express their deepest sympathy. “It’s scary and I’m so sorry for them,” says Hernandez.

Justin Dejean of Carencro says the shooting has struck fear among many people not to mention how many hearts have been broken.

“It’s awful to lose somebody especially something like that.  It’s crazy.  We just need to pray. That’s all to it.”

Hernandez was reported to have been at the Pulse Nightclub. The person he was with reportedly to have been shot and survived. “It makes you feel sick (pause) yeah,” adds Marie Benoit of Lafayette Parish.
