CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) – The owner of a Crowley funeral home, whose business was raided by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office in February, has surrendered his embalming licenses, according to the Louisiana State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors.

A spokesperson for the board said Joseph Wilturner, who owns Wilturner Funeral Home, voluntarily surrendered his individual and business licenses after a hearing in May.

The board will meet on June 15, 2016, to discuss sanctions against Wilturner’s business.

The funeral home is not in operation at this time.

Coroner Dr. Mark Dawson, with assistance from Crowley Police, removed two bodies from the Wilturner Funeral Home on February 25, 2016.

Dawson told KLFY he “never had to do this before,” in his 33-year career.
