VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY)- UPDATE: Police have identified the suspect in a homicide investigation that began Friday, July 17, 2020.
Jeremy Breaux, 32, of Ville Platte, was arrested and charged with negligent homicide for allegedly hitting a man who attempted to intervene between him and a woman during a violent altercation, police said.
The victim was hit in the face and fell onto the pavement where he was pronounced dead by first responders, Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue said. The victim has not yet been identified.
Breaux was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail and taken to the Evangeline Parish Jail with no bond.

According to police, a man was killed when he attempted to intervene between the suspect and woman who were in an altercation in the 600 block of Rozas Street.
The victim was reportedly punched and fatally wounded, authorities said. Police have not said whether a suspect is in custody at this time.
